Take a walk around our solar system… Situated in the castle grounds this walk takes approximately 20 -25 minutes and is easy to navigate. Just follow the red rockets laid into the path. The distances between planets on the trail have been worked out to represent relative distances between the planets. The Sculpture Trail was designed to commemorate the millennium. The walk is based on a similar sculpture trail created in our twinned town Bad Laasphe, in Germany and celebrates 21 years of links between the two towns. Ankerside Shopping Centre overlooks the Castle Grounds. With over 60 shops and cafes it is a child friendly shopping day out for the whole family. It is fully enclosed so you can enjoy it whatever the weather!

Tamworth has a Norman motte and bailey castle. Tamworth was the birthplace and until very recently the home of the Robin Reliant. Sir Robert Peel (1788-1850) came from Tamworth who was twice Prime Minister of Britain and created the Metropolitan Police Force. A statue of him stands outside our Town Hall. Colin Grazier (1920-1942) Second World War hero who gave his life recovering the Enigma code from the German submarine U-559, which undoubtedly helped to shorten the length of the war, also came from Tamworth.
Tamworth has been twinned with Bad Laasphe in Germany since 1980 and has also recently twinned with Vaujours in France.
