School Trips Information
It’s almost time for your visit!
Thank you for choosing to visit the SnowDome with your school group, we cannot wait to welcome you! We know that organising school trips can be challenging, so we’ve put together some top tips to ensure your day runs smoothly. If you have any queries at all, please do get in touch and we will be happy to help.
Coach and mini bus parking
This is located at the far end of the car park, near the lake. There is a drop-off point for children which is closer to the entrance. As you come into the car park, turn left at the mini roundabout and you will see a sign which says ‘No coaches past this point’. Please drop off all children here. Coaches can then park in the coaches area by the lake.
Disabled parking for cars and small mini buses is available on the higher car park, near to the hotel. Please take the first left turn after you come through the car park barrier. The footpath will then lead around the building to the main entrance, avoiding all steps.
Arrival
Please arrive 30 minutes before your session start time. This is to allow time for children to get changed, use the toilet and collect helmets. Please remember helmets are mandatory for all children aged 2 to 16 years on all snow and ice activities. On arrival, please check in at guest services. Please note; late arrivals cannot always be accommodated as our activities run to a specific time schedule and capacity. We will always do our best though. We offer activities for many schools every day, so please be aware there may be other children in the venue.
Toilets
Toilets are located around the venue in The Aspen Food Company restaurant, The Lifthouse Coffee Co, Ski hire and in the Snow and Ice Arena (ice skating and snow fun park). Toilets are also available on the snow track and in the animal area of the Santa's Winter Wonderland experience.
What to wear
Wrap up warm as you would for a cold winters day! Warm, waterproof clothes, gloves and sturdy footwear with a good grip suitable for walking on snow is essential. Timberland type boots or wellington boots are perfect, if not, trainers are fine but they are likely to get wet, so please bring a change of footwear.
If you are ice skating, playing in snow fun park or on Santa’s Winter Wonderland snow trail – please remember helmets are mandatory for all children, aged 2 to 16 years. We strongly recommend adults wear a helmet too. Helmets will be provided free of charge to all guests.
Packed lunches
Complimentary rooms can be provided, however, these are subject to availability and must be pre-booked in advance. If you require a room and haven’t already booked one, please contact guestservices@snowdome.co.uk to check availability. Rooms are usually available for one hour slots, but can be booked for longer on request, if there is availability.
Please note, large rooms may be shared with other groups and may be ‘bottoms on floors’ depending on numbers.
A small number of benches outside the building are available for packed lunches (located on the grass area by the footbridge). There is also a picnic area located in the Castle Grounds which is a short walk away (over the road bridge heading towards the town). Large groups have used this area previously, however, it is not linked to the SnowDome.
Cages are available where bags and packed lunches can be stored if your room is occupied beforehand. Please do not leave any valuables in these cages. We will take your cages to your room while you enjoy your activity.
We hope this information has helped. If you have any queries at all, please do get in touch at guestservices@snowdome.co.uk or call 03448 000011 and we will be happy to help. If you need urgent assistance on the day, please contact the duty manager on 01827 308419.
